Load One Dataset or a Batch

Use EyeSort Step 1 to select same-directory datasets and the required output location.

Last updated: 2026-10-07

Open Step 1

Choose EyeSort → 1. Load EEG Dataset(s). Add files with Browse Files, or use Browse Directory to select every .set file in one folder. All selected files must share one parent directory.

Choose an existing output directory. It is required in both modes because Step 4 automatically saves final outputs there.

One file

With one file selected, EyeSort loads that dataset into EEGLAB and stores the output directory for later saving. The source is not overwritten.

Verify:

EEG.filename
numel(EEG.event)
eyesort_single_output_dir

Multiple files

Two or more files activate batch mode. EyeSort stores file paths and names, loads the first dataset for reference, then processes datasets one at a time in Steps 2–4.

Verify:

eyesort_batch_mode
numel(eyesort_batch_file_paths)
eyesort_batch_output_dir

Batch processing reduces memory use; it does not combine participants. The final name for each input is normalized to <base>_processed.set/.fdt.

Before continuing

Confirm that the first dataset has the expected event types and fields. A representative file that differs from the rest can hide batch-wide input drift, so test Step 2 on one participant before committing to a large batch.

Next: configure text interest areas.
