Diagnostics, Warnings, and Conflict Policy
Interpret EyeSort’s preflight, assignment, import, labeling, BDF, and conflict diagnostics.

Step 2 preflight and assignment
Trigger validation checks configured trial, condition, item, and optional stimulus-window markers. Assignment diagnostics then report event-trigger matches, complete keys, missing/unused condition–item keys, boundaries assigned, fixation/saccade events seen, mapped fixations, missing X fields, and invalid X values.
Zero assigned boundaries is an error. Sparse fixation assignment is a warning that requires checking geometry and source coordinates.
Step 3 import
eyesort_import_diagnostics records valid/invalid IA rows and event keys, assigned events, matched keys, missing keys, and unused rows. Imported fields can be empty when the join key is absent.
Step 4 labels
eyesort_last_label_diagnostics starts from fixation candidates and counts drops by condition, item, time-locked region, pass, previous/next region, fixation class, saccade in/out, and existing-label conflict. A zero-match label should be broadened one criterion at a time.
Conflict policy
Existing EyeSort labels are not overwritten silently. “Replace” changes canonical and display fields; “Keep existing” skips the new label for those events. Save or script the policy.
BDF and conversion
“No labeled events” means no usable canonical codes were found in the selected source. Conversion requires at least one nonempty eyesort_full_code; restoring originals additionally requires original_type.
Use troubleshooting by step for corrective actions.
