Build and Apply a Label Queue
Define ordered fixation-label criteria, resolve conflicts, and auto-save processed outputs.

Define labels
Open EyeSort → 4. Eye-Tracking Event Labeling. For each label:
- write a clear label description;
- choose the event-marker display format;
- select at least one time-locked region;
- add only the needed pass, previous/next region, fixation-type, and saccade-direction filters;
- click Add Label to Queue.
Unchecked optional criteria mean “any.” Review the order because LL in the canonical code follows the applied label number.
Save and apply
Save the full queue as a .mat file, then click Apply All & Finish. EyeSort applies labels sequentially to fixation candidates and reports matched counts and the filters that removed candidates.
If an event already has eyesort_full_code, EyeSort does not silently overwrite it. Choose replace or keep existing; you may apply that decision to future conflicts in the run.
Expected result
EyeSort automatically writes <base>_processed.set/.fdt to the Step 1 output directory. It can also write eyesort_labeling_summary_NNN.csv, including TOTAL rows. There is no separate save-labeled-dataset step.
Verify:
labeled = ~cellfun(@isempty, {EEG.event.eyesort_full_code});
nnz(labeled)
unique({EEG.event(labeled).bdf_full_description})
EEG.eyesort_last_label_diagnostics
Labels apply only to fixation events. Saccade direction is contextual filtering. Next: choose or convert event formats.
