ERPLAB and BINLISTER Handoff

Prepare numeric EyeSort markers and a grouped BDF for downstream ERPLAB processing.

Last updated: 2026-10-07

Prepare outputs

Apply labels with meaningful descriptions, generate eyesort_bins.txt, and convert processed datasets to the numeric marker format. BDF generation reads eyesort_full_code, but BINLISTER matches EEG.event.type.

EEG = pop_convert_event_codes(EEG, 'numeric');
assert(all(cellfun(@(x) isempty(x) || numel(x)==6, ...
    {EEG.event.eyesort_full_code})))

Run BINLISTER

Load a processed dataset and use your standard ERPLAB workflow, selecting the generated BDF. For example:

EEG = pop_binlister(EEG, 'BDF', 'eyesort_bins.txt', ...
    'IndexEL', 1, 'SendEL2', 'EEG', 'Voutput', 'EEG');

Confirm the exact arguments against your installed ERPLAB version.

Validate counts

EyeSort may combine multiple canonical codes in one bin when condition description + label description are the same. Compare EventList/bin counts with the EyeSort summary and inspect the BDF expressions.

EyeSort does not epoch, baseline-correct, reject artifacts, average, or resolve overlap. Those choices remain part of the documented downstream analysis.
