Generate a BINLISTER BDF
Create a BINLISTER-compatible descriptor file from canonical EyeSort labels.
Last updated: 2026-10-07
Generate after labeling
Choose EyeSort → Generate BINLISTER BDF File after Step 4. EyeSort searches the remembered output directory for processed datasets, reads canonical eyesort_full_code values, and suggests eyesort_bins.txt.
BDF generation prefers the canonical field and therefore still works when EEG.event.type is descriptive. The dataset should nevertheless use numeric types when passed to BINLISTER.
How bins are grouped
EyeSort groups by condition description plus label description, not by one raw code per bin. Factorial designs can therefore place multiple canonical codes in a single expression:
Bin 1
Valid Target first-pass fixation
.{010301; 030301}
Different condition trigger codes can share a bin when their descriptive condition text and label description are identical.
Verify
Open the text file and confirm every planned condition–behavior category, description, and code expression. Compare bin counts after BINLISTER with eyesort_labeling_summary_NNN.csv.
For scripts:
generate_bdf_file(outputDir, fullfile(outputDir, 'eyesort_bins.txt'));
“No labeled events found” means Step 4 was not applied, all criteria matched zero fixations, or the selected directory does not contain labeled datasets. Check eyesort_full_code and the diagnostics guide.
